BISD board scheduled to vote on massive job cuts

BEAUMONT - More than 200 Beaumont ISD employees could learn their fate Thursday night, including a number of teachers.

The board is scheduled to vote on the superintendent's proposed Reduction in Force. Dr. Timothy Chargois wants to help cut the budget by about $25 million.

A large group of teachers is expected to protest before and during tonight's meeting. They've done so at several recent meetings.

The superintendent has created a list of employees facing the loss of their jobs.

Fred Shafer, the Conservator appointed to help oversee the district, has ordered the superintendent to put more administrators on the list.
