Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue in our forecast for Tuesday with little change in temperatures.  Meanwhile, a new tropical depression has formed in the Gulf.  This depression should become a tropical depression Tuesday with landfall near Tampico, Mexico early Wednesday.

80-year-old man driving wrong way on Highway 90 killed in collision

JEFFERSON COUNTY - The Texas Department of Public Safety has released the name of an 80-year-old man troopers say died after he was traveling the wrong way on Highway 90 and struck another vehicle.

Johnson Dale Sonnier, 80, ov Vidor, was killed at about 4:40 p.m. Wednesday on Highway 90, about five miles east of Beaumont.

Troopers say he was driving his car west in the eastbound lanes and struck a 2009 Toyota driven by Peter Floyd, 50, of Silsbee. Sonnier was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Justice of the Peace Nancy Beaulieu.

Floyd was transported to Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont for treatment of injuries.
