Man in custody for Beaumont Wells Fargo Bank robbery

BEAUMONT - Beaumont Police say a Houston man is custody after turning himself in for the robbery of a Wells Fargo Bank at Major Drive and Gladys in Beaumont earlier this month.

Christopher M. Thomas, 23, of Houston, surrendered to the F.B.I. on Wednesday.

During the robbery at about noon on June 3, a man approached the teller with a note and indicated that he had a weapon. The teller complied with the demands. After robbing the bank, the man walked away and headed south on Major Drive.

A K-9 located the man's long sleeved white shirt and ball cap along the canal south of the bank on Major Drive near the soccer fields.

Beaumont P.D. Detectives and FBI Agents through the investigation identified the suspect as Christopher M. Thomas, 23 from Houston. Beaumont P.D. Detectives and FBI Agents were able to obtain a Federal Arrest Warrant for Thomas.

Investigators conducted a manhunt that spanned for several days in Houston.

Thomas turned himself in to the FBI Wednesday night with the assistance of his attorney.

Thomas is being held on the Federal Warrant in a Beaumont Facility and a bond has not yet been set.
