Port Arthur teen crashes into home after police chase

PORT ARTHUR - A police chase ended overnight with a teenager crashing into a Port Arthur home after , police say, he first slammed into the back of a police car.

Investigators say the driver -- 18-year-old Luis Martinez of Port Arthur -- first hit the officer's car in the 1900 block of 9th Avenue as the officer was stopped at a red light.
Police say Martinez then sped away, and there was a chase.

Martinez later crashed into this home in the 2400 block of Evergreen at about 2 a.m. Saturday, June 28.

The crash woke up the family. They then heard an officer trying to apprehend Martinez in their back yard.

Resident Michelle Bruno says  the crash was a frightening  experience and she and her husband are thankful that they weren't injured.
