More of what we experienced on Sunday is making a repeat performance today. Plenty of sunshine mixed in with a few high level clouds. Dry weather will stick around for most of the week with another upper level system returning for the later half of next weekend.
Suspected meth lab explosion injures two in Lumberton
LUMBERTON - A man was seriously burned and a woman also suffered injuries when a suspected methamphetamine lab sparked a small fire and explosion in a Lumberton home, according to information provided to KFDM News by Police Chief Danny Sullins.
Chief Sullins told us the man suffered burns to about one third of his body and the woman was burned on her arm in the late Sunday night fire at a rental home on Jenny Lane off Highway 69 in Lumberton. The man was transferred to a burn unit in Galveston.
Two other people in the home at the time were not hurt. All four are between 18 and 30, according to the chief.
The man went to an emergency room in Lumberton for treatment of his burns at about 10 p.m. Sunday. Officers later learned about what happened and checked out the home two hours later. There was a strong odor of chemicals, according to Chief Sullins, who said his officers determined there was a small meth lab in the home and it sparked a small fire and explosion.
The four could face felony drug charges, according to Chief Sullins, who told us no one is yet in custody.
