Mother indicted for injury to a child; cell phone video captured incident involving 8-month-old girl
JEFFERSON COUNTY - The Jefferson County grand jury has indicted a mother on charges of Injury to a Child after cell phone video showed her appearing to repeatedly slap her 8-month-old child while shouting obscenities and telling the little girl to shut up while the toddler was on the front porch of a Beaumont home.
The grand jury indicted Tieralyn Angelle, 27, on a charge of Injury to a Child. If convicted of the Third Degree Felony she could face up to 10 years in prison. She could also receive probation.
A neighbor took cell phone video of the incident May 13 in the 1300 block of Liberty Street in Beaumont. The baby wasn't hurt. The homeowner said Angelle was an acquaintance. He's not accused of any wrongdoing.
Police took Angelle into custody last month in Port Arthur on an unrelated warrant.
