Castle Motel set on fire

BEAUMONT- Investigators said the Castle Motel was deliberately set on fire overnight Friday. The building was closed in 2012 by Beaumont city officials for code violations.

Beaumont Fire Captain Earl White says firefighters received the call at about 12:45 a.m. Saturday. Firefighters cleared the scene at 9:30a.m.

Firefighters said when they arrived to the vacant building in the 1100 block of North 11th St., they found the building heavily involved by fire. Additional firemen were sent to the scene.

Firefighters fought for two hours with water streams and remained on the scene Saturday morning putting out hot spots.

Investigators said someone set the fire deliberately, though no suspects have been identified. Captain White says three of the six buildings were destroyed. He says there are no suspects right now, and is asking anyone with any information to call 880-3905 or Crimestoppers at 833-TIPS.

There were no injuries.
