ORANGE COUNTY - Inspectors in Orange County didn't find many violations. Most of the scores were on the higher end of the scale.
KFDM has the details in this edition of the Restaurant Report Card.
We begin with Romano's 8.31 Italian in Orange. Inspector scales noted all foods in the coolers and freezers out of their original container needed to ladbeled and dated. Soap and towels are needed at the handwashing sink.
Several gnats found throughout and management needed to contact pest control to retreat. Romano 8.31 Italian gets a 90.
Now onto Market Basket on Texas Avenue in Bridge City. Boxes were found stored on the floor in walk-in freezer which is a violation. All food products should be stored six inches off the floor. Several flies and gnats found throughout. The floors throughout the deli need to be cleaned of old foods and several of the ceiling tiles had mold on them and need to be replaced. Market basket in Bridge City get a 90.
Next inspectors check out Waffle House on 27th Street in Orange. Several flies and gnats were found throughout, the air conditioner was dripping water onto the front counter and needed to be repaired. The gaskets on the coolers needed to be cleaned of mold the storage shelves need to be cleaned and are beginning to rust and are in need of repair. Waffle House in Orange gets a 91.
And finally inspector scales visits Domino's Pizza on Texas Avenue in Bridge City. Employee drinks were found on the food prep table which is a violation of good hygienic practices. The floors throughout and under the equipment need to be cleaned of old foods. The storage shelves are beginning to rust and need to be repaired. The a/c still appears to not being able to keep temperature. Management needs to make sure all foods are being kept safe until the problem is corrected. Domino's Pizza in Bridge City gets a 93.
And the blue ribbon awards this week are Charlie BBQ on the corner of corner of Highway 1132/12 in Vidor; Simply Sweet Treats on 2797 Ben Mac Road in Orange; Senor Toro Mexican restaurant on 2308 Lutcher Drive in Orange; Wendy's on 2205 Highway 62 in McLewis.
