Sources: Immigrant children sent to IAH to be sent elsewhere
HOUSTON - Alice Barr/KHOU 11 News and www.khou.com
Sources have confirmed to KHOU 11 News that Central American children, who came to the U.S. without parents, are being shuffled through Bush International Airport as officials find permanent homes for them.
After the children arrive at relocation centers in the Rio Grande Valley and San Antonio, they will be brought to IAH to catch a flight to their next destination.
Source said that anywhere from 10 to 20 children will come through IAH. Officials are reaching out to the children's families in the U.S. or foster homes that can take in the kids.
The children will be in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement for a limited time until they can be transported to their families.
Sources said this is a temporary situation as they work on a long-term solution.
