Jefferson County jury set to sentence man to 12 years for assaulting teenaged girl

JEFFERSON COUNTY - A Jefferson County jury was set Tuesday to sentence a man to 12 years in prison for sexual assault of a child.

The jury was about to begin hearing evidence in the case when 37-year-old Rodney Adams entered a guilty plea.

According to offense reports, a teenage girl was assaulted by Adams several times.

When Adams was confronted about the assault, he denied it but later admitted to sexually assaulting the girl.

Adams must serve at least half of his sentence before being considered for parole.

When he is released, he must register as a sex offender.
