New BISD board to discuss important issues Monday

BEAUMONT - There are some big decisions for a group of people who will now be making decisions for the Beaumont school district.

A week ago, TEA Commissioner Michael Williams swore in the new board of managers.

On Monday, July 28, the new board will discuss and decide a number of issues.

On the the agenda,  the proposed termination of contract employees due to a reduction in force.

That list consists of five people, including the district's communications director Jessie Haynes.

The board is also scheduled to discuss the district's accreditation status, financial account information and amend the general fund budget.

Also on the list is the hiring of a director of human resources -- the position held by Sybil Comeaux.

Comeaux retired from the district last month.

The district is also looking to hire of a director of purchasing. The position was once held by Naomi Lawrence Lee.

Lawrence Lee was fired in April.

Fox 4 News will be at the board meeting Monday and have a live report.
