DPS trooper hit by car, discharged from hospital
Update: A spokeswoman with the Department of Public Safety says the trooper who was hit by her patrol car in Orange County has been discharged from the hospital.
RELEASE FROM DPS - UPDATE
On 7/23/14 at approximately 10:47 PM an Orange County DPS Trooper responded to the scene of a one vehicle crash on IH-10 eastbound at FM 1136 (mile marker 870).
The preliminary crash investigation indicates that the Trooper was struck by her patrol car after it was hit by another vehicle traveling EB on IH-10.
The Trooper was air lifted to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Beaumont with unknown injuries.
The crash is currently being investigated by DPS Troopers and additional information will be provided upon the completion of the crash investigation.
BREAKING NEWS: A DPS trooper was hit while working an accident on I10-E between at FM 1136, according to Sgt. Chuck Havard.
She was working a wreck when she was hit by another car. It is unknown if she was in her vehicle or getting out of her vehicle when she was struck by another vehicle, according to Sgt. Havard.
Paramedics transported her to St. Elizabeth hospital. She is in stable condition, said Sgt.,Havard.
Crash scene investigators are working the scene. I-10 East is shut down, and I-10 West is open.
