The judge released his ruling Friday afternoon and set a trial date of September 22 for the case. Last week the judge held a hearing.
Reynolds and his attorney argued Reynolds was placed on the RIF list in retaliation for helping the media with Freedom of Information requests and other matters.
In his ruling, Judge Rugg states: "There was ample evidence of retaliatory motive on the part of Defendant Chargois given the singular treatment of Plaintiff's inclusion in the RIF and the incredible explanation of mistake. The court is further persuaded as to the merits of Plaintiff's claims of retaliation by the evasive answers given by Dr. Chargois to clear and direct questions and the inability to recall recent events by Dr. Chargois and other defendants-particularly Sybil Comeaux."
The board failed to approve a RIF during a previous meeting.
