Fire occurs at Chevron Phillips in Port Arthur

UPDATE: The Port Arthur Fire Department confirmed two injuries in connection with the fire at Chevron Phillips in Port Arthur.

KFDM News has learned that one injury has been confirmed in connection with a fire that occurred at about 8 p.m. at Chevron Phillips in Port Arthur.

The fire took place in a heat exchanger, Captain Troy Irvine of the Port Arthur Fire Department said.

Firefighters were called to set up a landing zone for an air ambulance for the one injured person, Irvine said.

Firefighters were not called into the plant, Irvine said. Chevron Phillips handled it internally.

Southbound 82 is currently closed and traffic is being redirected.
