A little better coverage of showers can be expected Wednesday as deeper moisture should move northward off the Gulf.  The next cold front will be in our area Friday morning with scattered showers and thunderstorms rather likely Thursday evening into Friday.  Cooler and drier air will take over this weekend.

20-year-old drowns while swimming with brother, friends

MONTGOMERY COUNTY - by Larry Seward/KHOU 11 News and

A late-night swim among friends turned into tragedy early Tuesday.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office was called to Royal Forest Lake just east of Willis around 1:30 a.m.

Authorities said two young brothers and two teen girls were swimming when the drowning occurred.

A teen told deputies his brother went under the water and was not seen again.

North Montgomery County Fire Department responded with divers and a boat. After searching for over an hour, the 20-year-old victim's body was recovered.

Detectives are investigating the incident, and an autopsy will determine if there were existing medical issues that contributed to the young man's death.

"If you have any medical issues or you are not a good swimmer, it's best to not swim at night in an area you've not swam in before," said Det. Paul Hahs.
