DEA and other agencies executing search warrant at doctor's office in Pinehurst

ORANGE COUNTY - Agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration are executing a search warrant at a doctor's office in Pinehurst, according to information provided to KFDM News by federal agents.

Dr. Philip Martinez Cantue, 56, wasn't at his office. He was arrested Wednesday night on an unrelated charge of Assault Family Violence-Strangulation. KFDM News has obtained the Probable Cause Affidavit issued by Justice of the Peace David Peck for his arrest on that charge.

Agents with the DEA, along with Pinehurst Police and the Orange County Sheriff's Office are on the scene Thursday morning at the office in the 200 block of Strickland Drive in Pinehurst.

Chief Deputy Clint Hodgkinson tells KFDM News the search warrant is at the office of Dr. Philip Cantu. He's listed as a pain management specialist.

Cantu is jailed in Orange County on an unrelated charge of assault family violence. He's jailed on Orange County. Cantu posted a $10,000 bond but there is a 48 hour on his release.

According to a Probable Cause Affidavit obtained by KFDM News, a woman who said she is his girlfriend told investigators Dr. Cantu assaulted her and tried to strangle her.
