Chevron Phillips announces plant fire extinguished
Port Arthur, Texas (9 a.m.) Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP (Chevron Phillips Chemical) confirmed that the all clear was sounded just before 7 a.m. this morning at its Port Arthur, Texas facility. The fire has been extinguished and the plant emergency response team is continuing to monitor the situation.
We are deeply saddened to report that two employees were injured during the incident and transported to the hospital where they remain for treatment, said Margie Conway, plant manager at Chevron Phillips Chemicals Port Arthur Plant. Safety is fundamental to our company culture and our thoughts are with our colleagues and their families during this time.
A team of experts from other Chevron Phillips Chemical facilities has been assembled and has begun the investigation to determine the root cause of the incident. The company is cooperating with federal, state and local authorities.
