More community leaders weighed in on the official takeover of the Beaumont school district Tuesday.

County judge Jeff Branick told KFDM News: "If we are going to progress as a community, if we're going to be a destination that people are proud to call home, then the takeover is absolutely necessary so that we can move forward."

KFDM also heard from Jim Rich, the president of the Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce.

He said: "I'm glad the district is turning a new page. It's a fresh's time to start building a new school district and we're very proud to have some good leaders...some with ties to the Chamber."
