Second person of interest in bank robbery taken into custody
NEWTON COUNTY - Deputies have taken into a custody a second person of interest in a Newton County bank robbery, during which the manager was stabbed, according to information Sheriff Eddie Shannon provided to KFDM News.
Xavier Clark was arrested Wednesday morning near Houston and is in the Newton County Jail on four unrelated felony warrants for burglary of a habitation. Sheriff Shannon says Clark is still a person of interest in the robbery last week at Sabine State Bank in Burkeville.
Deputies arrested the first person of interest, Michael Byerly, 20, Sunday, on four unrelated felony warrants for burglary of a habitation.
The bank was robbed Wednesday, June 25. The bank manager had been stabbed in the neck. She suffered a puncture lung and is recovering at a Houston hospital.
