Three PAISD schools may be getting new look if bond passes
PORT ARTHUR - Some Port Arthur schools may be getting a new look.
The board of trustees is discussing the possibility of up to a $200 million bond to rebuild three elementary schools, according to PAISD board president Thomas Kinlaw.
The bond will affect roughly 9,000 students, and there will be no cost to taxpayers, according to a district official.
The following schools would be rebuilt if the bond passes: Terrell, Travis and Sam Houston.
Kinlaw says the new schools will help ease overcrowding in the schools and move the district in the right direction.
"Port Arthur is on the move and we have to insure our students continue to get a quality education," he said.
Kinlaw says the board will vote on the bond sometime in August.
