Search warrant yields meth, firearms, arrests
ORANGE COUNTY - from Orange County S.O.
On Wednesday, July 23, 2014, around 4:30 p.m., Deputies with the Orange County Sheriff's Office, along with officers from the City of Orange, West Orange, and Vidor Police Departments, executed a search warrant of a residence in the 16900 block of FM 1442 in the Mauriceville area of Orange County, Texas. During the search, Investigators located approximately 8 grams of methamphetamine. There were also a number of firearms, some of which were considered prohibited weapons by state law because of certain modifications to the weapons.
The two occupants in the home at the time of the search warrant were the homeowner, a 36 year old white male identified as Michael Kamm Morgan of Mauriceville, and a 23 year old white female identified as Ashley Nicole Posey, also of Mauriceville.
Both Morgan and Posey were arrested and booked into the Orange County Jail for Possession of a Controlled Substance, a 2nd Degree Felony, and for Prohibited Weapons, a 3rd Degree Felony. Justice of the Peace Precinct #1 Judge David Peck arraigned Morgan and Posey around 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2014. Each has a bond of $25,000 for the charges and both currently remain in the Orange County Jail.
Sheriff Keith Merritt was also on scene during the search warrant. Sheriff Merritt said that the Sheriff's Office is committed to using all resources to get illegal drugs out of our communities in Orange County.
