Average gasoline price drops 4 cents in Beaumont

BEAUMONT - The average price for one gallon of unleaded gasoline has dropped four cents in Beaumont during the past week, according to the weekly survey from AAA Texas.

The Beaumont average is $3.39. It was $3.46 at this time last year. The record high in Beaumont was $4 in July 2008.

Irving, TX) – From AAA Texas

Summer road trips will cost Texans less money at the gas pumps this week.  The statewide average for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel is now $3.45, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch.  That price is three cents less than last week and seven less than this time last year.  Of the major metropolitan areas surveyed in the Lone Star State, drivers in El Paso are paying the most at $3.53 per gallon while drivers in Amarillo are paying the least at $3.36 per gallon.  The statewide average in Texas is now 14 cents less than the national average of $3.59 per gallon.

Retail prices at the pump have continued to move lower following the Independence Day holiday due primarily to lower crude oil costs as the situation in Iraq stabilizes.  AAA analysts say prices may continue to slide or remain flat, barring any geopolitical concerns, major hurricanes or refinery disruptions.

“With warmer temperatures expected in the coming week and lower gas prices, this is a great time to hit the roads and visit your favorite lakes, rivers and states parks in Texas,” said AAA Texas/New Mexico Representative Doug Shupe.  “For those who still plan to take summer vacations visit your nearest AAA Texas branch office for free and expert travel ideas, tips and information that could save you time and money on your future trips.”
