Homeowner shoots man trying to break into car; police searching for gunshot victim
BEAUMONT - Beaumont Police are searching for a man they say was shot by a homeowner who saw the man trying to burglarize his vehicle.

According to investigators, on Monday, July 21, 2014 at about 5:20 a.m., officers responded to the 2400 block of Liberty in reference a homeowner shooting a man as he tried to burglarize his vehicle.
The homeowner's motion detector was activated and he stepped out to check on it. He saw the man and the man charged the homeowner. The homeowner fired one shot and struck the man somewhere in the lower chest area. The man ran away after the shooting.
Officers quickly set up a perimeter and followed a trail of blood down several city blocks. A K-9 was called and tracked for a lengthy period of time but couldn't find the man.
All of the local ER's have been notified to be on the lookout for a gunshot victim. The man is described as a black man, approximately 6' tall, 160 lbs, wearing an unknown colored baseball cap, long black shorts and dark colored shirt.
The man lost a large amount of blood and is believed to have a gunshot wound to his lower chest area.
