Average gasoline price continues dropping in SETX
BEAUMONT - The average price for one gallon of gasoline has dropped another four cents in Beaumont, according to the weekly AAA Texas survey released Thursday.
The Beaumont average is $3.24. The average was $3.38 at this time last year. The record high for Beaumont was $4 in July 2008.
(Irving, TX) - The statewide average for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel in Texas is now $3.29, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch. That price is three cents less than last week and twelve cents less than this time last year. Of the major metropolitan areas surveyed in the state drivers in El Paso are paying the most at $3.38 per gallon while drivers in Amarillo are paying the least at $3.21 per gallon. On average, drivers in Texas are paying 18 cents less per gallon than the national average of $3.47.
As the summer winds down gas prices continue to decrease. Despite the ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and Eastern Europe market analysts say there has been no disruption in the production or distribution of the global oil supply. The 2014 Atlantic Hurricane Season has also been relatively quiet up to this point, but in the past decade much of the activity has occurred in the latter half of the season. Storms in the Gulf can impact oil supply and distribution and with several weeks left in the hurricane season analysts will be watching any impact weather may have on the market.

"Making regular vehicle maintenance part of your back-to-school preparations can help keep the family car running more efficiently which will help families stay within their budget."
