Late night deliberately set fire heavily damages vacant Beaumont home, injures firefighter

BEAUMONT - Beaumont firefighters are investigating what they say appears to be a deliberately set fire that slightly injured a firefighter.

The fire was reported shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday in the 1300 block of Johns Street.

Flames had engulfed the home when firefighters arrived.

They made a defensive attack and controlled the fire within 20 minutes.

The house was vacant with no utilities connected and the fire appears to be deliberate.

One firefighter sustained an injury to an arm. He was transported to Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth where he was treated and released.

Anyone with information about this fire or any of the other recent fires should call the Fire Marshal's office at 409-880-3905 or Crime Stoppers at 409-833-TIPS.
