Judge Gist receives State Bar Lifetime Achievement Award
JEFFERSON COUNTY - Senior District Judge Larry Gist has received the State Bar of Texas Lifetime Achievement Award, the highest award issued by the State Bar.

The surprise announcement was made Monday morning in Judge John Stevens' court. Judge Stevens says Gist is the first trial court judge to receive the award. Previously, according to Judge Stevens, it had gone to Texas Supreme Court or Appellate Court judges.
Judge Gist presides over the Jefferson County Drug Impact Court.
The Texas Lifetime Achievement Award is the highest award given to a Texas judge by the Judicial Section of the State Bar of Texas.
The Judicial Lifetime Achievement Award is presented each year to a current or former Texas judge, recognized by his or her peers as having a reputation for and commitment to judicial excellence, who has achieved a significant length of service as a judge in Texas, and has demonstrated a long-term, consistent and significant contribution to the betterment of the judicial, access to justice, and the system of justice in Texas.
Judge Gist began his 50 year legal career as an assistant Criminal District Attorney for Jefferson County. He served 20 years as Criminal District Court Judge.
