More marijuana discovered in Polk County after historical bust

POLK COUNTY - Investigators have discovered more marijuana in Polk County following an historic bust last week.

The latest discovery is six fields of the plants. They were found in the southeast corner of the county.

According to the Polk County chief deputy, they discovered the fields Tuesday when someone reported suspicious activity in a heavily wooded area.

Deputies found about 6,500 plants. This discovery comes after last week's find of about 100,000 plants in the Goodrich area, just west of Highway 59.

Investigators believe last week's bust may be the largest in Texas history.

The marijuana found Tuesday is similar to the plants found last week. It's not clear if they were grown by the same undocumented immigrants from Mexico, who are in custody.
