More ashes found at former Fort Worth mortuary; owners are from Beaumont

KFDM News - Two Fort Worth mortuary owners who are from Beaumont may be in more trouble tonight.

A cleaning crew has found another box of ashes at their Fort Worth building that was used as a mortuary and where the remains of eight unrefrigerated corpses were discovered last month.

Police say it's the seventh container of ashes found at the former funeral home that was shut in July.

The ashes have been sent to the Tarrant County medical examiner for analysis.

Mortuary owners Dondre Johnson and Rachel Hardy-Johnson already are facing seven misdemeanor charges of abuse of a corpse. They're free on bond. Their website says they are from Beaumont.

The pair's business was supposed to be featured on a cable TV network reality show. That plan's been scrapped.

According to the Associated Press, the latest discovery this week was on a shelf behind some cleaning and embalming supplies.
