Wife says Judge Dunn returning home from Houston on Tuesday following treatment for flesh-eating bacteria

HOUSTON/ORANGE - KFDM News has learned  Justice of the Peace Derry Dunn is returning home to Orange from Houston where doctors were treating him for flesh-eating bacteria.

Dunn believes he contracted the bacteria at the end of July during a family reunion at Crystal Beach.

Doctors at Baptist Orange Hospital treated Judge Dunn for several days, removing diseased tissue and giving him large amounts of antibiotics. Relatives credit the treatment with saving his leg and his life. He was transferred to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston for additional treatment.

Dunn's wife tells KFDM News he'll return home Tuesday. He's completed his IV antibiotic treatment and he'll continue taking antibiotics by mouth. Judge Dunn will see a wound care doctor and infectious disease specialist in two weeks. The hospital is setting up home health care to continue taking care of his leg wounds.
