Going on vacation? How to keep your home safe

KFDM News - We have a warning from police to help prevent criminals from targeting your home when you're away.

Many of us will be traveling for vacation in the next few weeks before school begins.

Some people will even post vacation pictures on Facebook, and that's not a good idea, according to police.

A Beaumont detective gives advice on how to keep your home safe.

"I would recommend finding a neighbor you trust and let them know you are going out of town and if they see anything, anyone parked in the driveway to notify police," said Det. Tina Lewallen. "A lot of times the victims come home and the neighbors watch the burglaries pack up the home but didn't know if they should call police or not."

If you have information about a crime in your neighborhood, you can call Crimestoppers at 833-TIPS.
