Judge undergoing more surgery in fight against flesh-eating bacteria

ORANGE COUNTY - A longtime judge infected with flesh-eating bacteria is undergoing more surgery Wednesday to allow doctors to remove additional tissue.

The wife of Derry Dunn tells KFDM News he was going into surgery late Wednesday morning at Baptist Hospital in Orange. The Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace in Orange County believes he contracted the bacteria during a family reunion at the end of July at Crystal Beach.

The aggressive bacteria kills tissue and rapidly spreads through the body.

Dunn thought doctors might have to amputate his leg but they've fought the infection by removing tissue and giving him a lot of antibiotics.

His wife is asking the community to offer its prayers and support.
