Port Arthur police officer on paid administrative leave
A Port Arthur police officer is on paid administrative leave following his arrest for the second time on a family assault charge.
Police Chief Mark Blanton tells KFDM, 32-year-old George Clark is on leave per civil service laws pending the outcome of the criminal investigation by Beaumont Police and an internal affairs investigation by Port Arthur Police.
Clark was arrested last night around 10:30 and booked into the Jefferson County Jail. Clark posted a 1,500 dollar bond Saturday morning and was released. Family assault is a Class A Misdemeanor. If convicted, Clark could face punishment ranging from probation to one year in jail and or up to a four thousand dollar fine.
Authorities say Clark completed an anger management course after the first charge.
